FROST FOLIAGE
Ripton, Vt.---The screen door slaps behind you as you enter
the village store, where it is dark and the old pine floor groans and
sags because of yet another visitor.
The Ripton Country Store had come up quickly around one of the many
sharp bends of mountainous State Route 125 in Vermont, past
benign but flaming hardwoods
and dark green pines, past hiking trails, ski runs, isolated farmhouses,
